Upgrade Advisory Notice
Upgrades from versions earlier than 10.0
If you are upgrading from a version prior to 10.0 then the following points apply:
ADVISORY NOTICE
Updated Java Version Requirement
The version of Java required to run ServiceScheduling has changed with the release of ServiceScheduling 10.
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, Java 8 (Oracle Java 1.8.0_121) is required to run ServiceScheduling.

ADVISORY NOTICE
Windows 2008 / Windows 2008 R2 Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, running ServiceScheduling on Windows 2008 / Windows 2008 R2 is no longer supported.
Users of ServiceScheduling upgrading to ServiceScheduling 10 from a prior release using Windows 2008 / Windows 2008 R2 should upgrade their operating system before upgrading ServiceScheduling.
Please review the Build and Test Environments for ServiceScheduling for full details of the environments supported by ServiceScheduling's modules.
ADVISORY NOTICE
Solaris Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, running ServiceScheduling on Solaris is no longer supported.
Support for ServiceScheduling on RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 is planned for a future release.
Users of ServiceScheduling planning to update to ServiceScheduling 10 from a prior release using Solaris should either:
- Migrate their installation to a supported Microsoft Windows operating system before upgrading ServiceScheduling; or
- Delay their upgrade to the ServiceScheduling until support for RedHat Enterprise Linux 7 is announced.

ADVISORY NOTICE
ServiceSWAT Module Windows 7 SP 1 Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, running the ServiceSWAT module of ServiceScheduling on Windows 7 SP 1 is no longer supported.
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, the operating systems on which ServiceSWAT is officially supported have been updated to Windows 2012 / Windows 2012 R2, in keeping with the other server-side modules of ServiceScheduling.

ADVISORY NOTICE
MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, MS SQL Server 2008 R2 is no longer supported.
Users of ServiceScheduling upgrading to ServiceScheduling 10 from a prior release using MS SQL Server 2008 R2 should upgrade their MS SQL Server database version before upgrading ServiceScheduling.

Oracle 11g Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, Oracle 11g is no longer supported.
Users of ServiceScheduling upgrading to ServiceScheduling 10 from a prior release using Oracle 11g should upgrade their Oracle database version before upgrading ServiceScheduling.

IBM WebSphere Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, running ServiceScheduling under IBM WebSphere is no longer supported.

ADVISORY NOTICE
ServiceGANTT WebStart Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, launching ServiceGANTT from the ServiceManager UI via WebStart is no longer supported.
Users of ServiceScheduling upgrading to ServiceScheduling 10 should ensure that all ServiceManager users who require the ability to run ServiceGANTT can do so without depending on the WebStart mechanism before upgrading.
ADVISORY NOTICE
Crystal Reports Server Support Deprecated
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, running the ServiceAnalytics module through Crystal Reports Server is no longer supported.
Users of ServiceScheduling upgrading to ServiceScheduling 10 from a prior release using Crystal reports Server should migrate ServiceAnalytics to using the bundled version of Crystal Reports before upgrading.
ADVISORY NOTICE
Java Applet Functionality under Firefox
With the release of ServiceScheduling 10, some areas of ServiceManager functionality provided by Java Applets are not currently supported under Firefox.
Due to compatibility issues with Firefox, Tomcat 8.5 and Java Applets, certain areas of ServiceManager functionality that are provided by Java Applets (maintenance of areas, regions, region travel times and region-based LK) are not currently supported when using Firefox. Please use IE 11 to access these areas of ServiceManager functionality. The replacement of Java Applets with native HTML/Javascript to restore these areas of functionality under Firefox is planned for a future release of ServiceScheduling 10.
ADVISORY NOTICE
Constraint & Index Re-Creation
Constraints & indexes will be dropped and re-created on some database table columns, as part of the process of converting database column types from char/varchar
to nchar/nvarchar
.
The ServiceOptimizer Install Guide provides details of how to upgrade your database, including key points to be aware of in the event that:
- Any changes to constraints and indexes in the ServiceScheduling database have been made; and/or
- Any additional tables have been created in the ServiceScheduling database which may be incorrectly detected as requiring the dropping and re-creation of constraints & indexes.
ADVISORY NOTICE
Prior Release Upgrade Advisory Notices
Appropriate prior release upgrade advisory notices must be reviewed as part of the upgrade to ServiceScheduling 10.0.
In the event that one or more major releases are being skipped as part of the upgrade to ServiceScheduling 10.0 - that is, whenever the upgrade is from ServiceScheduling 9.3.2 or any prior version - then all appropriate upgrade advisory notices for the versions being skipped must be reviewed as part of the upgrade process.
