ServicePower Ref

Description
SPDATA-389

Incorrect travel times for France. ServicePower have changed the source data for travel time calculations, resulting in more accurate travel times for larger polygons and those around islands.

Due to this change, all existing lat/longs for postcodes will also be overwritten to improve travel times for point to point and realtime traffic, something which isn't normally done due to the locations typically not changing.

New Features in this release

With the European matrix being one matrix rather than one per country, the added benefits are that you can travel between countries. All journeys are calculated using the fastest route and it may be quicker to travel from one postcode in Germany to another in Germany, via France. With previous releases of the matrices, this wouldn't have been possible.

In addition to this, previous travel matrices have always been a single country with an FRU mapped to it. With the introduction of a single matrix covering multiple countries, FRU boundaries are no longer limited to a single countrym with journeys calculated over the borders, FRU's can be setup to cover areas outside of a single country with the relevant region to area mappings.

Ability to travel between countries

Another advantage of this release is for updating. There is no longer a requirement for multiple maintenance windows to update several matrices, this can now be done in one upgrade.

Coverage

The following countries are covered in the European matrix. The UK and Ireland are currently absent do to a different region structure but may be induced in the future.

Region Structure

The region structure for all EU regions are:

  • Level 1 - EU
  • Level 2 - Alpha 2 ISO Country Code e.g DE
  • Level 3 - Postcode e.g 01099

Using this region structure, 01099 in Germany would be EU.DE.01099.

Postcode Structure

The postcode structure for all countries is the alpha2 ISO code separated with a hyphen, followed by the postcode, e.g. DE-01099.

Upgrading from multiple to a single matrix

**If you were previously using several single matrices and wish to upgrade to the European matrix, there are no changes required, other than referencing the single matrix from the global ServiceScheduling settings and removing them from the FRU level settings.

Drive Times

Drive times have been calculated using here.com. No drive times are included in the travel matrix for journeys greater than 4 hours 15 minutes.

Data Information

Data vintage
Postcodes - 2019 (191 E0 v25)
Postcode data, network routing engine and road network data supplied by here.com.

** The single Germany matrix used a different region structure than currently in use, therefore there may be some extra work required to remap local knowledge and region to area mappings. Our Professional Services and Support functions can help you through this if you currently use the Germany matrix.
